Happy Gospel Church is a non-denominational, full gospel, Spirit-filled church. Upon your visit, you will find people from just about every walk of life. Diversity is celebrated at HGC, as you will see all races and generations worshipping together. There are various specialized ministries for the entire body. Regardless of where you come from, there is a place for you at Happy Gospel Church.
When you attend a service at HGC, you can expect to hear vibrant praise and worship that moves you into the presence of God. You’ll also hear sound, Biblical teaching and preaching from God’s Word on relevant issues and topics that affect your everyday life. HGC is committed to providing ministry to the entire family. Kids Rock is our children’s ministry on Sunday mornings, and the Awana program is used on Wednesday nights. One of our area’s strongest youth ministries, Won2One, meets every Wednesday night, with ministry specifically designed for teenagers. Babies and toddlers receive special care during all services in our nursery facilities, located adjacent to the main sanctuary. Great care and investment has been made to ensure that HGC can minister to the entire family.
HGC was founded in 1974 by the Happy Gospel Singers, a gospel singing group that traveled regionally and sang in churches of all denominations. Although originally from a Baptist background, members of the group received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This experience revolutionized their lives and ministry, and gave birth to what is now known as the Happy Gospel Church.
After founding the church, HGC built a small sanctuary on what is now the current Wal-Mart property. In 1989, HGC acquired eight acres directly on Hwy 70, and built the current larger church sanctuary. Since then, a multi-purpose pavilion and a youth & children’s ministry building has been added to the property. There is still room for the church to add additional improvements as the ministry continues to grow.
From the small humble beginning of just a few families in 1974, to the several hundred who call HGC their church home today, Happy Gospel is dedicated to preach Jesus, minister to the entire family, and provide a spiritual haven in our community.
